Job description

About Leapfrog

Leapfrog is on a mission to be a role model technology company. Since 2010, we have relentlessly worked on crafting better digital products with our team of superior engineers. We’re a full-stack company specializing in SaaS products and have served over 100 clients with our mastery of emerging technologies.

We’re thinkers and doers, creatives and coders, makers and builders — but most importantly, we are trusted partners with world-class engineers. Hundreds of companies in Boston, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco choose us to gain speed, agility, quality, and stability, giving them an edge over their competitors.

About the Role

We are looking for a Solution Architect who operates at the intersection of business and technology. In this role, you will lead client conversations from discovery through delivery — developing a deep understanding of business goals and end-customer needs, and shaping solutions that are technically sound, commercially viable, and built to scale. You will own architecture decisions across large-scale engagements, guide cross-functional teams through the full software development lifecycle, and champion modern, AI-powered engineering practices across projects.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Discovery

  • Lead client conversations through the design and discovery phases of new and existing projects, acting as a trusted technical advisor.

  • Build a strong understanding of each client’s business domain, objectives, and end-customer needs, and shape solutions accordingly.

  • Gather and analyze business requirements, and plan the product roadmap in collaboration with the project manager and the client.

  • Ideate and evaluate solution options with stakeholders, balancing business value with technical feasibility.

  • Architecture & Solution Design

  • Lead and oversee solution analysis, architecture design, and technical documentation across engagements.

Architecture & Solution Design

  • Lead and oversee solution analysis, architecture design, and technical documentation across engagements.

  • Design architectures grounded in the AWS Well-Architected Framework — operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization, and sustainability.

  • Ensure solutions meet scalability, availability, and performance objectives from the outset.

Estimation & Delivery Planning

  • Right-size engagements with credible estimates for timelines, team size and composition, and cost.

  • Decide the right balance of project deliverables based on resources, cost, effort, and time.

  • Lead the end-to-end software development lifecycle — from discovery and design through build, deployment, and handover.

  • Embed AI-powered SDLC practices and tooling to raise delivery velocity and engineering quality.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve project and organizational goals.

  • Comply with all professional, departmental, and company best practices.

  • Regularly inspect and improve project delivery and engineering processes.

Job requirements

  • A degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in the software industry, with demonstrated experience architecting large-scale solutions.

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional preferred).

  • Strong command of the Cloud Well-Architected Framework and a track record of applying it in real-world engagements.

  • Proven ability to estimate and right-size engagements — timelines, team sizing, cost analysis, and capacity planning.

  • Demonstrable experience with application scalability, availability, and performance.

  • Experience leading the end-to-end SDLC, with working knowledge of AI-powered SDLC practices and tools.

  • Experience working with Generative AI, LLMs, and agentic orchestration, and applying them in real-world applications.

  • Expert-level knowledge of cloud-native architecture on AWS; familiarity with GCP or Azure is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems and cloud architecture, microservices, event-driven design, and API-led integration.

  • In-depth knowledge of one or more programming languages.

  • Well-acquainted with software compliance, policies, and industry standards.

  • Strong business acumen with excellent communication and negotiation skills across executive and technical audiences.

  • Excellent skills in authoring and presenting architecture artifacts — solution blueprints, architecture decision records (ADRs), HLD/LLD documents, and technical proposals — to engineering teams and executive stakeholders.

  • Good project management skills, with experience managing and planning resources and product deliverables.
