About the Role
Project Oversight
Create/oversee plans for the current running engineering projects
Cooperate with engineers, project managers, and customers to design, plan, and develop the project
Work with Project Managers/Team Leads/Designers to create key results of the project
Identify and remove any obstacles to the delivery of quality products
Inspect the progress of the engineering project
Ensure the quality of engineering projects
Continuously improve or provide feedback to improve the project process to deliver more effectively and reduce bottlenecks
Lead audit efforts in the engineering project (code, process, practices) if they have followed standards and best practices
Engineering Standards & Technical Leadership
Serve as the final technical authority for engineering practices across squads
Define, maintain, and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and architectural guidelines across all engineering squads
Drive continuous adoption of AI-assisted development tools and practices (e.g. AI coding assistants, LLM-based testing, automated review). Build team capability around emerging AI/ML developments relevant to software engineering
Own and drive engineering-side compliance activities including audits, certifications, and ongoing adherence to SOC 2, HIPAA, and any other applicable regulatory frameworks. Coordinate across security, legal, and infrastructure teams
Client & Stakeholder Relations
Ensure a healthy relationship between clients and engineering teams
Ensure communication between engineering teams, clients, and the company meets standards
Acknowledge complaints and concerns from clients and engineering teams and plan actions accordingly
Able to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders; adapts communication style across engineers, product managers, and executives
Team & Organisation
Ensure a healthy relationship between engineering teams and the company
Help engineers understand company-wide goals and how their work ladders up
Periodically conduct feedback sessions within engineering teams to improve the Engineering Managers Department and the company's process/style
Resource Allocation
Oversee engineering staff resourcing
Identify and analyse the current skill set of the company and the gap
Forecast the requirement of skills as per company requirement in coordination with the Resource Management team
Ensure people have the skill sets needed to achieve their goals in possible projects
Hiring & Onboarding
Coordinate with the recruitment team to hire engineers by providing selection standards (written tests, interview questions, work sample tests), process, and timeline
Design appropriate onboarding sessions for various levels of hiring to ensure standard learning
Deal with team interpersonal issues and performance issues
Training & Professional Development
Identify training and development needs within projects and the organisation
Provide suggestions to design and develop execution plans for training programmes at various intervals
Coach engineers' career paths and personal growth in a way that aligns with team goals
Ensure Team Leads are aware of growth and learning opportunities engineers are seeking, so they can enable those if possible
Job requirements
Graduate in Computer Engineering or a similar IT background, or equivalent practical experience
Master's degree in Engineering or an MBA is preferred
At least 5 years of professional experience in software development
At least 2 years of professional experience in project/people management
Prior experience at Lead Engineer level or equivalent — capable of reviewing, critiquing, and guiding architectural and design decisions without day-to-day coding
Proficient in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or equivalent); experienced in sprint planning and delivery management
Actively keeps up with AI/ML developments and their application in software engineering; has hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling
Strong team management skills
Strong organisational skills and ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences — across engineers, PMs, and executive stakeholders
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
Deep knowledge of software design patterns, code quality principles, and engineering best practices
Good to have:
Prior direct ownership or significant involvement in at least one SOC 2 or HIPAA compliance certification or audit cycle within an engineering organisation
